General comments

  • Bij verdenking postseptale infectie: spoedconsult KNO en oogarts, laagdrempelig beeldvorming (CT orbita). Drainage kan geindiceerd zijn.
  • Bij goede kliniek en oogheelkundig herstel kan na vier tot zeven dagen intraveneuze therapie per oraal worden uitbehandeld. In sommige gevallen kan een langere totale behandelduur nodig zijn.
  • Eventuele lokale therapie toe te voegen in overleg met oogarts.
  • Aanpassen antibiotica bij doorbraak naar centraal zenuwstelsel in overleg met infectieziekten en/of microbiologie.
